QKE8J is a 5-speed sequential gearkit for the EP3 and FN2 versions of the Honda Civic Type R as well as the DC5 Integra / RSX. Ideally suited to circuit racing, drag racing and rally use it’s designed as a direct replacement for the standard six-speed H-pattern Honda transmission.

QKE8J features a replacement Quaife outer gearbox case incorporating an additional support bearing between 4th and 5th gear. A compact, drum style sequential gearchange mechanism and an open face dog design ensure an ultra rapid, positive gear sequential shift.

QKE8J re-uses the original EP3/FN2/DC5 bellhousing half of the transmission casing, enabling the retention of the Honda clutch, differential, driveshafts and mounting points. Wide straight cut (spur) close-ratio gears minimise transmission losses and offer a choice of rally, race or drag race gearing. There is also the choice of a helical set for road and track day applications.

QUAIFE K-Series AWD Transfer Case Spur Gear Set & Shaft

With the dramatic rise in popularity of AWD Honda K-Series conversions combined with the monumental figures that are now commonplace for K-Series motors, it is absolutely essential to ensure every element of the drivetrain is up to the task.

For that reason we developed our Exclusive Quaife Engineering Spur Gear Set and Pinion Shaft for CRV Transfer Cases. While these gear set increase the power handling capability of the K-Series Transfer Case via superior metallurgy, an even larger increase is seen due to the use of Spur Cut Gears. The OEM Helical gear design was engineered to minimise noise output while still providing adequate strength for the expected duties of a factory standard CRV. The tradeoff for this however, is thrust force, while in no way an issue at the levels of torque a factory K-Series can produce, with the figures now commonplace in the K-Series world it is a recipe for disaster. Converting to a Spur design massively reduces these forces and as such drastically increases the capability of the transfer case.

All of these components are manufactured to the same material specification as our record breaking gearboxes before being REM superfinished. This highly polished finish produces a smooth contact surface that not only allows for more even lubrication of the entire gear, but also reduces friction between meshing parts, thereby reducing heat and wear, in turn maximising longevity.

We can provide four levels of Transfer Case build to cater to all levels of performance:

Level 1: Inspect & Refurbish Donor Transfer - This includes vapour blasting both sections of the casing and output flange along with replacing all bearings, seals, o-rings, crush tube and shaft nuts using genuine parts.

Level 2: As above plus Quaife Spur Gear Set & Shaft.

Level 3: All of the above plus the addition of a Drag Cartel Billet Housing.

Level 4: The Ultimate Transfer Case, includes everything listed above, plus a PPG Hypoid Gear Set.
